Ballerina

Never taken a dancing class in my life, but I appreciate the beauty of dancing especially the ballerina.  Valentine's day, we went to the NYC Ballet at the David H. Koch Theater, the venue is spectacular with the common space filled inlaid travertine marble staircase, antique brass railings, and gold-leaf ceiling.  It's absolutely stunning.  I like the classic solid design with few main materials that connects well.  It was designed by Architect Philip Johnson in the 60s.  It was indeed a fancy Valentine's date!  We saw Coppelia.  The costumes and the set was magnificent but the true beauty came from the dancers.  My first time at the ballet, and it sure will not be my last.  I was overwhelmed with admiration for the hard work and dedication that put into the performance.  And there were little ones dancing too!  They were the most adorable and talented little girls I've ever seen.

A friend of mine introduced me to The Ballerina Project on Instagram.  I immediately fell in love with the artistry and sophisticated forms of each and every photographs.  It's a great idea for the project because the setting was in such unusual places other than the decorated in door stages.  It's on the street, in nature, and even sometimes in someone's apartment.  I supposed you can virtually dance anywhere.  The dedication and discipline that goes into this art is immeasurable!

Finally, guess where Audrey Hepburn gets her gracious form from?  Yes!  She was a classically trained ballet from a very young age.  She is one of my absolute favorite person in this world.

Jean Paul Gaultier

Today, I have the privilege to see the work of the master of fashion creation - Jean Paul Gaultier.  I was in awe of the intricate details that go into each garment.  I live for details and I am happy to report that everything about this man is the in the details.  I saw lace, woven ribbon, wheat, leather, flowers, hair, to name a few.  It's not just the material itself but how he used them.  Every pieces were so well thought out and over the top avant-garde.  There is no word that can describe how magnificent this exhibit was.  It's now on view at the Brooklyn Museum.  My photos are more focused on the details and transitional moment from one material to another.  Needless to say, I am more inspired than ever!

Her

What if in the future, every interaction you make will be via an electronic interface?  There's something really sad about losing the human touch.  Technology is a mean to enhance your life on certain level but not to take over the human touch.  Recently, I saw "HER" the movie directed by Spike Jonze.  In the movie, Theodore was clearly a romantic who works as a writer at a love letter service which write "handwritten" love letters for other people.  Now, the idea that someone else writes a love letter for you to send to your love ones is already strange for me.  Maybe, I am too old fashioned... if you feel the need to express your love to someone, you should take the time to sit down with a pen and paper and write it yourself!  But they are not even handwritten!  In the movie, the future of technology allows you to speak to the monitor and it will do the writing or typing for you.  Another great technological improvement on the user interface…  I am not against technology, but I am struggling to fight to keep the human interaction with other human being on a more personal level.  I am the one to pick up the phone to call if you are too far to reach to hear someone's voice.  I am the one to give the biggest squeezable hug.  A text, an unsigned Christmas Card with photos of your children, are a few of my not so favorite things.  Back to the movie, it made me sad that someday we might lose the human touch all together…  I wish people would go back to the way things used to be when you don't have to hide behind a monitor or a screen to actually talk and look into someone's eyes, and their facial expressions.  It's irreplaceable!

This song so beautifully written by Karen O and performed together with Vampire Weekend's leading singer Ezra Koenig.  I can listen to this all day...

Bright As Yellow

Have you ever listening to a song and it catches your attention and you kept replaying it on your iPhone several times and not get tired of the tune?  I found myself listening to this song over and over and over for the past two days now.  It's a bit obsessive but I can't help myself.  Then you find yourself singing it, not too loud because you are walking down the street and not wanting people to think you are crazy.  This song is perfect for my mood right now… a happy yellow.
